The day
Derick and Jose originally planned to get married in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, but like so many couples in 2020 they were forced to reconsider their plans and drastically adjust their wedding day. During a weekend getaway in June in Gippsland, the couple discovered the majestic clifftop coastline and the vision for their big day started to come together.
In the end, Derick and Jose celebrated with 24 of their closest family and friends, saying “I Do” at sunset at Kilcunda Beach, a hidden gem on South Gippsland coastal region.
The couple got ready together earlier in the day, and along with Glen Nicholls Photography took some pre-wedding photos along the beach and the famous trestle bridge in Kilcunda. Over on the clifftop, Benji from Botany Green put together an incredible backdrop for their ceremony, and Emma + Simon from We Are Paper Hearts provided the music. Precious Celebrations was the perfect choice of celebrant, with her humour and incredible warmth.
Along with their guests, Derick and Jose celebrated their post-nuptials at Dirty Three Wines, with gourmet grazing boards and a Pizza truck. Torte by Mirjana created a beautiful cake for the occasion.
After spending many months in lockdown in Melbourne, capturing Derick and Jose’s special day felt like a real blessing and it was the perfect way to kick off the wedding season.
