Why We Love Filming Weddings at Coombe Yarra Valley
As wedding videographers, we’ve filmed weddings at so many beautiful venues around the Yarra Valley, but Coombe Yarra Valley always feels a little different to us. A hidden treasure just outside Melbourne, Coombe feels like a world away from the busy city. With its beautiful gardens, incredible food and wine, and a sense of history woven throughout the estate, it feels like a true home away from home, a place where you can slow down, take a breath and simply enjoy being with the people you love most.
Of course, the gardens are beautiful, the setting is incredible and the service makes you feel like you’re among friends. But what makes Coombe really special to us is the couples who choose to get married there, and the stories behind why they chose it.

We’ve filmed couples who have travelled from overseas to celebrate with their international guests and introduce them to a uniquely Australian wine experience in the Yarra Valley. Then there are the local couples who live nearby and have always admired Coombe, choosing to get married somewhere that feels familiar and close to home.
For some couples, it’s the wine. They’ve visited the estate, fallen in love with the Pinot Noir and wanted a place they already love to become part of their wedding story. For others, Coombe holds an even more personal connection. Maybe they got engaged over dinner at the restaurant, celebrated special occasions there, or simply fell in love with the character, atmosphere and history of the grounds. Everyone seems to have their own reason for choosing Coombe, and for us, that emotional connection is what makes filming a wedding there so special. We get to experience it first hand on the wedding day.
Guests making their way through the beautiful gardens towards the ceremony. Walking through to the Italian Garden, with its European feel and intimate atmosphere, as the anticipation begins to build. Then comes that unforgettable walk down the aisle, towards each other, and everything that comes next. The ceremony begins, and suddenly, all those emotions you've been carrying throughout the day start to flow; the happy tears, the nervous smiles, the laughter. All the raw feelings begin to unfold naturally , moment by moment, until it all comes together in a kiss.
The ceremony finishes and your friends cheer as you join them for canapés. You sneak away for a few minutes of photos, finally having a moment to look at each other, hold hands, admire your rings and say “I love you..”. Later, there’s laughter during the speeches, stories shared by the people who know you best. Eventually everyone is on the dance floor including two of you, hands in the air, feet moving, dancing like no one is watching.
As wedding film makers, these are the moments we love. The real connections. These are the stories we want to share with you in your wedding film. Because we’re not just capturing how beautiful Coombe looks, we’re capturing how it feels to be there. That’s what makes filming weddings at Coombe Yarra valley so special to us.
